Job Title: Maintenance Director, Graham County USD 281
Location: Hill City, Kansas
Reports to: Superintendent of Schools, Graham County USD 281
Job Overview:
USD 281 is hiring a maintenance supervisor for district facilities. The maintenance supervisor oversees the maintenance of all school facilities, including the routine inspection of the grounds and facilities, installations, and equipment to determine need for repairs, maintenance or replacement.

Key Responsibilities:
Facilities Maintenance and Repair
1. Assign work to district maintenance staff and oversee completion. Initiate contract repair when work cannot be performed by district staff.
2. Assign priority to maintenance work orders and process them. Work cooperatively with principals and facilities managers to schedule and complete repairs.
3. Estimate cost of repair projects including labor, materials, and other related costs.
4. Perform repairs and assist skilled workers to complete repairs as needed.
Inspection
5. Inspect all district buildings and facilities and initiate repairs as needed.
6. Conduct on-site inspection of completed repair projects. Monitor and inspect contract work.
Safety
7. Provide training and orientation to district maintenance staff in safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment.
8. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
9. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
10. Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
11. Custodial responsibilities.
Inventory and Equipment
11. Prepare, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for tools and equipment. Ensure that maintenance is completed and equipment is in safe operating condition. Recommend replacement of existing equipment when necessary.
12. Conduct regular inventory of physical equipment and supplies and maintain accurate records. Order tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.

13. Respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
14. Assist in the preparation of the department budget.
15. Assist in recruiting, screening, selection, training, and evaluation of maintenance employees.
16. Maintain accurate information for payroll reporting (time cards, tardiness, and absenteeism).

Vacation Leave, two weeks of vacation annually and is not cumulative.

Salary Information
This position pays $22.00 per hour plus overtime. Usual work week it 50 hours.

The district has two attendance centers; Hill City Junior Senior High housing students in grades 7-12 and Hill City Grade housing students PK-6. The enrollment of the district is approximately 380 students. Student to teacher ratio is low, averaging 12-16 students in a classroom. Hill City Junior-Senior High has many active clubs and organizations as well as programs in band, choir, art and FFA. HCJSHS students compete in most activities sponsored by the KSHSAA.. The district underwent a facelift in 2015 with the addition of a new state-of-the-art 8 lane track including new concessions and restroom building, immaculate renovation of the auditorium, new HVAC systems at both facilities, Parking lots and renovation of the Grade School playground along with other upgrades. USD 281 recently launched a technology improvement program and has added interactive boards to all elementary and many Jr-Sr high classrooms. Students in the district all have an individual laptop assigned to them, making us 1-1 district wide. In 2020 the district was recognized by the Kansas State Department of Education with three awards of distinction including the Commissioner`s Award.
